Orchid of the Day

I love growing plants and that has always been my hobby. Fresh flowers are very short lived and flower photography gives me a way to make their beauty permanent. Before diving into photography I was on a quest for flowers which stay fresh and beautiful for a long time. Of course orchids are the first to come to mind when thinking about gorgeous flowers which stay perfect day after day.

My orchids grow in the basement under lights. I started with HID lights and a variety of orchids, but eventually it transformed into a low maintenence setup for growing phalaenopsis orchids under the fluorescent lights. I went through a variety of growing media and now that is exclusively New Zealand sphagnum moss, translucent pots are used as containers.
